Festival of Dance

The South Wales Branch will once again be holding a Festival of Dance at the Roman Amphitheatre, Caerleon. The Amphitheatre allows spectators the unique opportunity to view the dance formations from above. Caerleon itself is of historical interest as a Roman site with legionary barracks, Roman baths and museum to visit as well as the old town. If the weather holds, it will be a good day out for dancers and non-dancers alike.

There will be social dancing in the afternoon interspersed with demonstrations by participating teams. Changing facilities are available at the Rugby Club, which is adjacent to the Amphitheatre. There will also be a dance in the evening (programme attached) at the Beaufort Community Centre.

The Beaufort Centre will be the venue for the afternoon if the weather turns inclement. It is only a couple of miles from the Amphitheatre.

The Lothian Scottish Dance Band will provide the music throughout the day.

ENTRY TO THE AMPHITHEATRE IS FREE.

Tickets for the evening will be £6.50 (RSCDS members), £7.00 (non-RSCDS members) and £4 for juniors (18 and under).

The timetable for the day is as follows:

2.00pm - 5.30pm social dancing / demonstrations

7.00pm - 10.45pm social dance at the Beaufort Centre

There are no catering facilities at the amphitheatre but you may picnic there if you wish. There are several pubs and places to eat in Caerleon.
