Classes

Our classes are for beginners and experienced dancers, everyone is welcome.
Remember, you don’t need to be Scottish, have a partner, or own a kilt!
Though a pair of soft shoes makes it much easier.

Summer Classes 2023

The Methodist Hall, North View, BS6 7PT has been booked for 6 Thursdays 7:30-9:00pm starting July 27th. The cost will be £5 per class.

Our plan for the classes is to focus on the dances which are on the Bristol Centenary programme this October. We will aim to ensure attendees are familiar with the formations they contain, plus, of course, a little step work each week.

We hope this will be of benefit to newer dancers and perhaps others who are looking for a gentle re-introduction to dancing after illness/injury.

If you are interested and have not been approached by either Lynn or Margaret you are very welcome but please let us know in advance. Please use our personal emails, if  you have them, otherwise tickets@rscdsbristol.info

We would like advance warning of those attending as we are expecting a small class and so will do our best to manage numbers/what we teach so that dancers are involved as much as possible.

Covid

Please only attend if you have no Covid/cold-like Symptoms or have a Negative Lateral Flow result to satisfy yourself your slight symptoms are not Covid.

Cribs

For each class we provide a crib to help you to review the dances.

Further Skills Classes

The Further Skills classes are open to all dancers with at least one year’s dancing experience.

The aim of this class is to provide a rewarding, and fun, experience for those who wish to further develop and exercise their dance skills. If the branch is asked to provide a display, a team will be sought from the members of this class. Attending the classes is for your enjoyment and does not commit any dancer to taking part in a display or demonstration unless they want to.

The last class will be on Monday March 27 at B & A St Andrew’s Park Hall, Somerville Road, Bristol, BS6 5BX from 7:45 to 9:45pm at a cost of £5.

There will be two classes on Monday April 24 and May 15 at B & A St Andrew’s Park Hall, Somerville Road, Bristol, BS6 5BX from 7:45 to 9:45pm at a cost of £5.

The class aims to:

• Develop those aspects of technique which particularly contribute to the greater enjoyment of social dancing and to effective displays: phrasing, presentation and teamwork;
• Provide an opportunity to improve footwork and dancing of figures (familiarity with the more frequently encountered figures is assumed);
• Benefit from individual feedback (provided that is OK with you);
• Learn dances which could be used in a live display or demonstration video;
• Look at dances that we consider interesting to learn, and which exercise the skills we wish to develop;
• Encourage the exchange of ideas about dancing.

When: Mondays monthly

Time: 7:45pm – 9:45pm

Cost: £5

Where: B&A St Andrews Park Hall, Somerville Road, Bristol, BS6 5BX
